Maryland Chaplaincy Through AEGA
Every federal track plus a state corrections system.
Maryland is a state where an AEGA-endorsed chaplain can serve across federal chaplaincy tracks and the state corrections system. The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services operates seventeen state correctional facilities operated by the Maryland Division of Correction, including Maryland Correctional Institution at Jessup, North Branch Correctional Institution, Western Correctional Institution, Eastern Correctional Institution, Maryland Correctional Training Center, Patuxent Institution, and Maryland Correctional Institution for Women, separate from federal Bureau of Prisons facilities. AEGA-endorsed chaplains carry the same ecclesiastical credential across every Maryland track.
An AEGA Maryland Chaplain Endorsement is the ecclesiastical document AEGA Ministries International issues to candidates entering any chaplaincy track inside Maryland. AEGA is approved by the Pentagon, the VA, and the Bureau of Prisons. Endorsement requires AEGA Ordained Minister credentials, which a Maryland applicant obtains through the standard credentialing pathway.
The Tracks AEGA Endorses
One endorser, every chaplaincy assignment.
AEGA appears on the recognized-endorser lists maintained by the Department of Defense Armed Forces Chaplains Board, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Maryland chaplains carry one endorsement across every track Maryland hosts.

Meade (NSA, U.S. Cyber Command, Defense Information Systems Agency), Aberdeen Proving Ground (Army Test and Evaluation Command), Naval Support Activity Bethesda (Walter Reed National Military Medical Center), United States Naval Academy (Annapolis), NSWC Indian Head Division, Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Maryland Army National Guard, and Maryland Air National Guard (175th Wing at Warfield ANGB). Why AEGA Endorsement Holds Up
Federally recognized by the agencies that matter.
Some endorsing bodies only endorse military chaplains. Some only endorse hospital chaplains. AEGA carries chaplains across every track Maryland hosts under one Spirit-filled fellowship covering.
DoD AFCB-recognized.
AEGA is listed by the Department of Defense Armed Forces Chaplains Board as a recognized endorsing body. Maryland military chaplains at Joint Base Andrews, Fort Meade, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Walter Reed Bethesda, U.S. Naval Academy carry AEGA endorsement.
VA and BOP-recognized.
The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Prisons both maintain AEGA on their approved-endorser lists. Maryland VA medical centers and 1 Maryland BOP facility accept AEGA endorsement letters.
One endorser, every track.
A Reserve military chaplain may transition to VA chaplaincy. A hospital chaplain may take on a DPSCS assignment. AEGA endorsement travels with the Maryland chaplain across every track.
49 years of standing.
Endorsing-body recognition is built on organizational longevity. Maryland chaplain boards, hospital credentialing offices, and DPSCS hiring offices recognize AEGA on file because AEGA has carried chaplains since 1976.

Becoming a chaplain in Maryland, answered.
What chaplaincy tracks does AEGA endorse for in Maryland?
Every track Maryland hosts. Military (Joint Base Andrews, Fort Meade, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Walter Reed Bethesda, U.S. Naval Academy, Maryland Army National Guard), federal Bureau of Prisons (1 Maryland facility), VA medical centers (Baltimore VA Medical Center, Perry Point VA Medical Center, Loch Raven VA Community Living Center, and the Washington DC VA Medical Center serving the National Capital Region), Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (17 state correctional facilities), hospital chaplaincy (Johns Hopkins Health System, University of Maryland Medical System, MedStar Health, LifeBridge Health, and Adventist HealthCare), law enforcement (Baltimore PD, Baltimore County PD, Montgomery County PD, Prince George's County PD, Maryland State Police, ICPC Maryland chapter), and Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing.
How does Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) chaplaincy work?

The role administers, supervises, and performs work involved in a program of spiritual welfare and religious guidance for inmates in a Maryland state correctional setting. DPSCS requires ecclesiastical endorsement from a recognized faith body; AEGA satisfies this.
Do I need AEGA Ordained Minister credentials before becoming a chaplain in Maryland?
Yes for federal tracks (military, VA, federal BOP) and most state tracks (DPSCS, large hospital systems, ICPC-affiliated law enforcement). All require ecclesiastical endorsement from an ordained minister credential. AEGA's Ordained Minister credential is the prerequisite; the endorsement letter follows once you are approved.
What military installations in Maryland use AEGA-endorsed chaplains?
Joint Base Andrews (home of Air Force One, 89th Airlift Wing), Fort George G. Meade (NSA, U.S. Cyber Command, Defense Information Systems Agency), Aberdeen Proving Ground (Army Test and Evaluation Command), Naval Support Activity Bethesda (Walter Reed National Military Medical Center), United States Naval Academy (Annapolis), NSWC Indian Head Division, Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Maryland Army National Guard, and Maryland Air National Guard (175th Wing at Warfield ANGB). AEGA is approved by the Pentagon as an Endorsing Ecclesiastical Organization with the United States of America Military Chaplaincy Program.
How long does the Maryland chaplain endorsement letter take?
Endorsement letters are prepared by the AEGA office once an applicant is approved as an Ordained Minister. The credential review itself is the long pole; most credentials are issued within three to five weeks. Once approved, the endorsement letter follows within days.
