With all the new trends in churches, it seems not much is taught about holiness, responsibility, accountability, etc. While the act of salvation does not require works to obtain, there is some responsibility to living in the KINGDOM.
As part of my nutrition therapy in rebuilding from the cancer I take an IV each month. The IV does many things but one side effect is detoxification. This morning I noticed again an effect from the IV and began to speak with the nurse concerning it. She identified the dark circles in the areas of my rings as a sign of the detoxification. She assured me it was nothing to worry about. I agreed that it usually went away in a couple of days.
As she left my station Jesus and I continued to talk. HE shared some thoughts with me that relate to my advancement in spiritual things. HE said, “have you noticed in the past few months that the higher the grade of gold in the ring the darker the circle and the longer it lingers.”. I thought a few minutes and HE was correct. If I had on my ring that is comprised of 10K gold there is very little discoloration and passes quickly. The finger with my wedding ring turns much darker and lasts longer since it is 14K gold.
What HE wanted me to realize is this. When we come into the KINGDOM there is much that needs to be removed from our lives. As HIS Spirit dwells with us and teaches us it is much like the IV. The Spirit flows through our lives and detoxes those areas. Some take more effort than others. HE is placing more of Jesus and less of ourselves in those areas. But because these things have been such a part of our personality and history the process is not always pleasant. In fact, at times (temporarily) we become discolored in those areas as we try to hold on to Jesus with one hand and the things we have come accustomed to with the other. But once we rest in HIM and release ourselves to HIS working through us, we find; just as my body does, that we are stronger for the experience.
We often sing songs with phrases such as “flow Spirit, flow”. Now let’s put practice to our words and allow HIM to detox our personalities in those areas that do not bring honor to HIS Name.
Hope to see you in a Tea Room soon,
Elizabeth
