The AEGA foreign division membership application is for individual ministers in a country where AEGA already operates an organized foreign division. From application to division membership.

01

Submit the application

Complete the form with credential application data, division references, country documentation, sending pastor letter, and biography. The International Office acknowledges receipt within five business days and forwards the file to the division director.

02

Division director review

The foreign division director reads the file, contacts your division references, and confirms your standing within the country. Most directors hold a video conversation with the applying minister at this stage.

03

AEGA credential review

AEGA's Board of Examiners reviews the standard credential application (doctrinal statement, ministry essay, references, tier requested) in parallel with the division director's local review.

04

Membership and credential issued

AEGA issues the credential at the approved tier and the foreign division director welcomes the minister into the division. Membership is annually renewable. Ongoing covering runs through the division director with AEGA headquarters in support.

Foreign division membership, answered.

How long does foreign division membership take?

Once your full file is received, most applications complete in three to five weeks. The review runs in parallel between the foreign division director (local references, country fit) and the AEGA Board of Examiners (credential application, doctrinal review). Files that arrive incomplete or that require additional country-specific documentation extend the timeline.

How is foreign division membership different from foreign affiliation?

Foreign division membership is for individual ministers joining an existing AEGA division in their country. Foreign affiliation is for ministers, ministries, or networks applying as the initial affiliating party. If AEGA already has an organized division in your country, you apply for division membership. If not, your application opens the conversation about establishing affiliation directly under AEGA headquarters.

Which AEGA credential tier should I apply for?

The tier depends on your current ministry role and experience. Ministerial Apprentice is the entry tier for ministers in training. Christian Worker is for vocational staff ministers. Licensed Minister is full ministerial authority for pastors of autonomous congregations. Ordained Minister is the highest credentialing tier, required for chaplaincy endorsement.

Does my country have an active AEGA foreign division?

AEGA serves credentialed ministers in more than sixty countries, but not every country yet has an organized division with a sitting director. If your country has an active division, this membership pathway applies. If not, the International Office will route your application to foreign affiliation and start the conversation about establishing a presence. Contact AEGA at 1-800-842-5176 if unsure.

Does AEGA control my local ministry after I become a member?

No. AEGA is not a denomination. Credentialed members remain autonomous in local ministry, governance, and finances. The foreign division director provides relational covering, accountability when needed, and the connecting tissue between the local minister and AEGA's broader fellowship. Covering, not control.
